Roy Cooper Issues Statement on the Anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Decision

RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper issued the following statement on the 4th anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision:

“Four years ago, the Dobbs decision threatened women’s reproductive freedom across the country,” said Roy Cooper. “As Governor, I vetoed an extreme abortion ban and fought to protect and expand reproductive rights of women in our state. Michael Whatley said he was the ‘most pro-life chair in the history of the Republican Party’ and pushed a platform that would have banned abortion with no exceptions. He also supports a national abortion ban and said he was ‘proud’ when the Dobbs decision took away reproductive care from millions of women – it’s plain wrong and our state deserves better. As Senator, I’ll continue working to beat back extreme policies and protect reproductive freedom.”

DC insider Michael Whatley is an anti-abortion extremist who backs a national abortion ban

Meanwhile, Roy vetoed an abortion ban in North Carolina and has fought throughout his career to protect women’s access to reproductive health care.
