RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Raleigh to highlight how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Working families in Wake County and across the state are feeling forgotten and left behind by Washington DC politicians and insiders,” said Roy Cooper. “Costs continue to climb while my opponent, Michael Whatley, keeps cheering on the reckless policies that hurt North Carolinians but boost his stock portfolio. As Attorney General and Governor, I stood up for hardworking families and delivered lower costs – I’ll keep fighting to make life more affordable as our next U.S. Senator.”
“North Carolinians are hurting and they need hope and strong leadership,” said U.S. Navy veteran, father and husband Pastor Siechieh Redd. “Costs are skyrocketing with no end in sight, and hardworking people are concerned for their futures. Washington DC insider Michael Whatley is out of touch and will only look out for himself in the U.S. Senate. We need Roy Cooper fighting for us in Washington DC.”
“My monthly health care premium has risen by over $1,000 over the past year thanks to attacks on health care coming out of Washington DC supported by Michael Whatley,” said Franklin County small business owner Michael Kimsal. “When Congress refused to extend the ACA tax credits that so many working North Carolinians relied on to keep their health care affordable, Roy Cooper spoke out about how reckless it was. Meanwhile, Washington DC insider Michael Whatley led the charge to double people’s health care premiums and pushed policies that boosted his Big Pharma stocks. Roy is a strong, independent leader who knows stuff costs too much – and he has a plan to make health care more affordable.”
“My young family is growing, and my husband and I are thrilled for this new chapter of our lives,” said working mother Meagan Davis. “But with child care and housing costs on the rise, we’re concerned about being stuck where we are now and being able to plan for the future. Washington DC insider Michael Whatley cheered on policies that are driving up costs and has spent his career looking out for himself. We can’t afford to have him in the Senate. Roy Cooper has time and time again fought for working families – that’s why we need to send him to Washington to make stuff cost less.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
