RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Wilmington to discuss how he will work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Here in Wilmington and across the state, everyday people are hurting while costs skyrocket,” said Roy Cooper. “Washington DC Insider Michael Whatley is running to benefit his bottom line and help his billionaire buddies get ahead. Meanwhile, I’m running to take some North Carolina common sense to the U.S. Senate, and make stuff cost less.”
“For 25 years, I have cared for patients and families here in Wilmington,” said family physician Dr. Matt Williams. “Because of the reckless actions from Washington DC Republicans, the ACA has been essentially destroyed. As Governor, Roy Cooper championed affordable health care, expanding Medicaid to nearly 735,000 North Carolinians and lowering costs for everyone. Roy knows families deserve quality, affordable health care. I know Roy will continue this work in the U.S. Senate, and fight to make stuff cost less for working families.”
“My family and I are feeling the weight of skyrocketing costs,” said New Hanover County Schools public educator Taylor Spear. “Our grocery and utility bills keep climbing, making it harder and harder to provide for my family on a teacher’s pay. As our Governor, Roy Cooper always listened to and fought for working people in our state. Michael Whatley spent his career as a Washington DC insider and lobbying for Big Utilities, including Duke Energy. He profits while everyday people struggle. The choice is clear–let’s send Roy Cooper to the U.S. Senate to make stuff cost less.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
