RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Leland to discuss how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Here in Leland and in every corner of our state, North Carolina families are hurting from skyrocketing prices on groceries, gas, utilities and so much more,” said Roy Cooper. “My opponent, DC insider Michael Whatley, spent his career lobbying for big utility companies, including Duke Energy, and he refuses to oppose their latest rate hike that will jack up utility bills even further. I’m running to make stuff cost less, and in Washington DC, I’ll work with anyone to take on the DC insiders ripping off working families.”
“Prices are out of control,” said public school custodian Daniel Webb. “Utility, gas and grocery costs are skyrocketing and no one in Washington is bringing North Carolinians any solutions. When Roy was governor, he worked across the aisle to fight for us and make life more affordable. I know that Roy will bring that same energy and commitment to the U.S. Senate to make stuff cost less and stand up for families like mine.”
“Growing up, I knew if I worked hard, I could achieve the middle class American dream,” said elementary school counselor Lisa Espy. “But, as prices skyrocket at grocery stores, Duke Energy keeps hiking my rates and housing upkeep continues to be a struggle, the American dream feels further out of reach. While DC insider Michael Whatley pushed for the policies hurting my family, including lobbying for Big Oil and utility companies including Duke Energy, Roy Cooper has always fought for me. We need Roy in the U.S. Senate to make stuff cost less.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
