RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Kinston to discuss how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Skyrocketing prices are crushing working families, and Washington DC’s reckless policies are making it worse,” said Roy Cooper. “I am running to make stuff cost less for families like Megan’s dealing with higher grocery prices, for parents like Kitt struggling with the sky-high cost of child care and for farmers here in Eastern North Carolina like Pender being forced to navigate the reckless tariffs. While DC insider and Big Oil Lobbyist Michael Whatley keeps cheering on policies coming out of Washington that are hurting working families, I’m ready to be an independent voice in the Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolinians.”
“My husband and I both work, but our grocery expenses have surged – even past what we spend on our mortgage most months,” said Megan Roberts, a Greenville mom and preschool teacher. “Things just cost too much and it’s getting harder to keep up with my family’s needs. When Roy was our state’s governor, he fought to lower costs for North Carolina families. He’s who we need in the Senate to deliver results for us.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, and child care. In the coming weeks Roy will share his plans for making housing more affordable.
