RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Gastonia to discuss how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Costs are way too high for working families on everything from child care to gas and groceries,” said Roy Cooper. “Meanwhile, DC insider and Big Oil and utility company lobbyist Michael Whatley has spent his career pushing self-serving policies that line his pockets while everyday people are struggling to make ends meet. I am running for U.S. Senate to be a strong, independent voice for working North Carolinians, take on insurance companies ripping people off and make stuff cost less.”
“As a young professional, life feels increasingly unaffordable,” said Gaston County native and Charlotte public school teacher Mary Nell Jenkins. “At the grocery store, at the gas pump and on my rent and Duke Energy bills, prices are skyrocketing and my budget is being hit hard. While DC insider and Big Oil and utility lobbyist Michael Whatley profits from policies he pushed for that are hurting working people like me, Roy Cooper knows stuff costs too much. Roy will take the same problem solving that he used here in North Carolina to help make stuff cost less as our next Senator.”
“Prices are rising on every daily expense, and building a life feels increasingly hard,” said Gaston County native Anthony Holland. “My utility bill is up nearly 50% and I’m paying $40 more a week for gas – it just shouldn’t be this hard. I’m supporting Roy because he’s focused on making stuff cost less for working families across our state.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
