RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Elizabeth City to discuss how he will work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Prices are rising at the gas pump, grocery store and on their utility bills, hard working North Carolina families are seeing the American dream become harder and harder to achieve,” said Roy Cooper. “Washington DC Insider Michael Whatley spent his career enriching himself with Big Oil and utility companies as they raised rates and charged more. I’m running because I love this state and we need a change in Washington D.C. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll be a strong independent voice working to make stuff cost less for families in Elizabeth City and around the state.”
“As prices skyrocket, my congregation is hurting,” said Pastor Alvin Boone. “Families are literally having to choose between medicine and food – it should never be this way. While DC insider Michael Whatley pushes for policies hurting families and grows even richer, Roy Cooper knows we need to make stuff cost less. Roy is a man of faith who will work with anyone to get stuff done for the people here in Elizabeth City and across North Carolina.”
“The people I serve in my community are feeling the weight of rising costs,” said social worker and therapist Yolanda Brooks. “From health care to groceries to child care, everyday people here are making tough decisions to try and make ends meet. Roy Cooper has always looked out for working people and will continue that work as our next Senator. While Big Oil and utility lobbyist Michael Whatley lines his own pockets at the expense of working people, Roy is fighting to make stuff cost less.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
