RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Charlotte to discuss how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Working families here in Charlotte and throughout the state are facing rising costs across the board on everything from child care to food and groceries,” said Roy Cooper. “We need to make stuff cost less. My opponent is a longtime Washington DC lobbyist for utility companies including Duke Energy and he’s not even opposing Duke’s latest outrageous rate hike. It’s time for a change – I’m ready to go to Washington to be an independent voice in the Senate and lower costs for North Carolina families.”

“My wife and I work full time, and simply providing our kids with child care is costing us nearly $3,000 a month,” said Charlotte working father Matt Martin. “That is simply outrageous, and it’s impacting our ability to buy a house, save money and provide a better future for our children like any parent would. Roy Cooper knows working families are struggling, and he is running to make stuff cost less. While DC insider Michael Whatley is in this for his own bank account, Roy Cooper is running to fight for working families.”
“Teaching and living on a teacher’s salary has never been easy, but these days, it feels especially hard – prices are just out of control,” said Charlotte teacher and mom Stephanie Collins-Frempong. “At the grocery store, our bill is up over a hundred dollars a week and at home, our Duke Energy bill keeps getting hiked, up over sixty dollars in just the past few months. While DC insider Michael Whatley spent his career working to enrich himself – including lobbying for Duke while they hiked our rates – Roy Cooper is running to make stuff cost less for families like mine.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
