RALEIGH – Today, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Asheville to discuss how he will work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.
“Here in Buncombe County and across the state, working families are getting crushed by the chaotic policies coming out of Washington that are driving up costs across the board,” said Roy Cooper. “My out-of-touch, Washington DC insider opponent Michael Whatley keeps claiming prices are down and ignoring that every day people in our state are hurting. As Senator, I’ll work with anyone to hold big corporations and self-serving politicians accountable and help provide Hurricane Helene relief that western North Carolina deserves. I’m ready to deliver results and make stuff cost less for families in North Carolina.”
“Small businesses are getting hit from every direction – our equipment costs more, our food costs more and our utilities cost more,” said Asheville restaurant owner Kyle James. “Our margins are being squeezed and with all of the chaos, we’re struggling to plan long term. We need change in Washington DC – we need Roy Cooper. When Roy was our state’s governor, he stood up for small business owners and delivered support for Western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene. I support Roy for the U.S. Senate because he has always had our backs.”
“Life is becoming unaffordable for the next generation and I’m concerned for my students,” said Asheville public school teacher Kelly Deese. “Gas, groceries, housing – everything is getting more expensive. It shouldn’t be like this. Roy Cooper knows that stuff just costs too much right now. As Governor, Roy fought to make life more affordable for working families and was a champion for our public schools and teachers. Now, Roy is running for the U.S. Senate to make stuff cost less and keep delivering results for hardworking North Carolinians.”
On the Make Stuff Cost Less tour, Roy released his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, child care and housing.
