RALEIGH – Last week, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Leland to discuss how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.

- [Roy Cooper:] “I had to learn early on about how to find consensus and how to get things done.”
- [Roy Cooper:] “I loved serving as attorney general, working with law enforcement, standing up for the little guy against the big corporations and against the shady dealers that are out there. And then, in 2016, you elected me governor […] to lead the state that I love with all of my heart.”
- When asked how he would support eastern North Carolina through unprecedented growth, Cooper said he worked as governor to steer economic development toward rural areas.
- “We also need to continue to work to make sure that people have health care,” [Cooper] said. “Rural North Carolina has benefited more than anywhere else for Medicaid expansion because a lot of people who are working in rural North Carolina just simply didn’t have health insurance or their employers couldn’t afford to buy it for them. We’ve got to make sure that we continue to push those issues.”
