Will Dan Forest Denounce LG Candidate Mark Robinson’s Facebook Posts?

Forest, Robinson have appeared in multiple campaign ads together

RALEIGH — On Thursday, WRAL reported that the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor Mark Robinson, with whom Republican nominee for governor Dan Forest has appeared in multiple campaign ads, has posted jarringly offensive content on Facebook for years.

According to the report:

[Robinson] says Hollywood is demonic. He bashes Black people for giving their “shekels” to satanic or Jewish movie producers. He insults famous women and sees cultural acceptance of homosexuality as part of a slide toward pedophilia and “the end of civilization as we know it.”

In a Thursday taping for On the Record, Robinson did not apologize for any of this. He also said he does not believe systemic racism exists during the interview, according to WRAL.

On the same day the story was published, Forest tweeted a photo of himself with Robinson, with the caption, “Looking forward to leading our great state with @markrobinsonNC starting January 1.

The photo appears to be a screen grab from one of the multiple campaign ads where the two have stood side by side spewing fear-mongering words meant only to divide.

Liz Doherty, spokesperson for Cooper for North Carolina, said, “It’s clear that Mark Robinson won’t apologize for his hateful and divisive posts, but the people of North Carolina deserve to know where Dan Forest stands, especially when the two have run multiple ads together. Will Forest denounce Mark Robinson’s inflammatory social media posts?”
