NEW SPOT: NC Physician Has An Unmistakable Message for Dan Forest: “Please Stop”

RALEIGH — Today, Cooper for NC released a new spot, “Don’t Go,” during which North Carolina physician Dr. Robert Harris speaks directly to camera and directly to Dan Forest about his dangerous, irresponsible in-person campaign events that are putting lives at risk. His message for Forest is simple but critical: “For the sake of everyone who attends and everyone they may come into contact with, please stop.”

Forest is committed to spreading dangerous misinformation about the virus, and falsely claimed, “Masks do not work with viruses.” He recently explained his approach to campaigning during the pandemic, “We shake as many hands as we can.” Forest shows no signs of veering from this reckless, maskless campaign strategy, and told a reporter at a recent event, “It will be a lot more of this.

Liz Doherty, Cooper for NC spokesperson, said, “With each in-person, maskless event, Dan Forest puts people in harm’s way instead of putting their health and safety first. He should lead by example and let science, data, and the advice of public health and medical experts lead the way. Instead, he’s contributing to the virus’ spread.”

TRANSCRIPT:

As a North Carolina physician for 35 years, I know how bad this pandemic is.

That’s why I have a message for Dan Forest.

Mr. Forest, I know you’re running for governor and are holding indoor events with no masks.

For the sake of everyone who attends and everyone they may come into contact with, please stop.

It’s dangerous and could lead to more infections.

For anyone invited to large gatherings, please don’t go.

No political campaign is worth risking North Carolina lives.
