Dan Forest Fails Students, Teachers As Unprecedented School Year Begins

RALEIGH As an unprecedented school year begins and students start classes, Dan Forest has set a precedent for not showing up for students and teachers at State Board of Education meetings.

While Forest claims that as Lt. Governor, “70% of his time is spent on education,” his poor attendance record tells a different story:

  • As of July 15th, Forest failed to attend half of State Board of Education meetings during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • On July 24th, Dan Forest left the State Board of Education meeting call before the vote was called.
  • In addition to skipping out on State Board of Education meetings, Forest has missed nearly 200 Senate sessions in 5 years and over 80% of State Community College Board meetings.

Liz Doherty, spokesperson for Cooper for NC, said, “By failing to show up for work, Dan Forest is failing students, teachers, and our schools. North Carolinians deserve better.”
