Watch Cooper for North Carolina’s New Video “Swamp Monster”

RALEIGH – Today, Cooper for North Carolina released a new video, “Swamp Monster,” highlighting Michael Whatley’s refusal to stand up against Chemours’ record poisoning North Carolina families while raking in thousands in campaign cash from them.
“DC insider Michael Whatley’s campaign pocketed thousands from the company that spent decades polluting North Carolina’s water, and Whatley refused to denounce them while his fellow insiders handed polluters a sweetheart deal,” said Cooper for North Carolina campaign manager Jeff Allen. “Michael Whatley is putting politics over North Carolinians and our state deserves better. Roy Cooper has fought to hold polluters like Chemours accountable and is running to deliver for North Carolina families.”
Michael Whatley has praised the federal government as they “quietly delayed” the clean up of PFAS at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Michael Whatley repeatedly refused to answer questions about the federal government’s recent sweetheart settlement with Chemours and on reports of the EPA rolling back PFAS regulations.
Transcript:
“For years, families drank tap water, not knowing it was contaminated with industrial chemicals.” “The plant dumped chemicals for decades.” Decades. That’s how long Chemours poisoned our drinking water. So Roy Cooper held them accountable and took them to court.
But Michael Whatley, he took Chemours’ check and said nothing when his friends in Washington let them off the hook.
Michael Whatley won’t stand up for clean drinking water. He’s from the swamp and he’s taking its dirty money.
I’m Roy Cooper and I approve this message.
