Watch Roy Cooper’s New TV Ad “Safe”
RALEIGH – Today, Cooper for North Carolina released a new TV ad, “Safe.” The ad showcases Roy’s work keeping families safe by putting violent criminals behind bars, going after drug dealers and strengthening bail laws.
“As Attorney General and Governor, Roy prosecuted violent criminals, strengthened North Carolina’s bail laws and fought to keep families safe,” said Cooper for North Carolina campaign manager Jeff Allen. “Michael Whatley spent his career appointing a known convicted child sex predator who served time in prison to powerful positions within the North Carolina Republican Party.”
The ad will run on broadcast television, streaming and digital platforms statewide as part of a seven-figure buy.

Roy Cooper: Keep your family safe and lock up criminals – that’s what most North Carolinians want. And it’s not too much to ask.
As your Attorney General, I put drug dealers, rapists and murderers in prison and kept them there. As your Governor, I toughened bail laws, went after drug dealers pushing fentanyl and said, “no way do we defund the police.”
I’m Roy Cooper, and I approve this message because you deserve to feel safe. And there’s nothing political about that.
As North Carolina’s attorney general – the state’s top law enforcement official – Roy prosecuted dangerous criminals and gangs, put them behind bars and kept them there. As Governor, he signed legislation that strengthened bail and pretrial release laws and went after drug dealers trafficking fentanyl. Roy also gave raises to law enforcement, increased the penalties for violence against them and opposed defunding the police.
Michael Whatley repeatedly appointed convicted child sex predator Harvey West to leadership positions within the North Carolina Republican Party – despite knowing that West served six years in prison for sexually abusing three children. When asked why he elevated West, Whatley has continuously “sidestepped” questions or flat-out lied.
