Watch Roy Cooper’s New TV Ad “What’s True”
RALEIGH – Today, Cooper for North Carolina released a new TV ad, “What’s True.” The ad highlights Roy Cooper’s work to protect North Carolina families by locking up violent criminals and sex predators, working across the aisle to strengthen bail laws and crack down on fentanyl.
“Roy Cooper is running for Senate to keep North Carolina families safe and has always fought to protect our communities,” said Cooper for North Carolina campaign manager Jeff Allen. “Roy worked across the aisle to keep violent criminals behind bars, toughen our bail laws and crack down on fentanyl and drug traffickers. Michael Whatley spent his career appointing a convicted child sex predator who served six years in prison and spent over a decade as a registered sex offender to powerful positions within the North Carolina Republican Party.”
The ad will run on broadcast television, streaming and digital platforms statewide as part of a seven-figure buy.

As North Carolina’s attorney general – the state’s top law enforcement official – Roy prosecuted dangerous criminals and gangs, put them behind bars and kept them there. As Governor, he signed legislation that strengthened bail and pretrial release laws and partnered with President Trump to crack down on drug dealers trafficking fentanyl. Roy also gave raises to law enforcement, increased the penalties for violence against them and opposed defunding the police.
Michael Whatley and Harvey West
Michael Whatley appointed convicted child sex predator Harvey West to a top leadership position within the North Carolina Republican Party – despite knowing that West served six years in prison for felony sex crimes against three young girls. When asked why he elevated West, Whatley has continuously “sidestepped” questions or flat-out lied.
