MCCARTHY: What led you to decide to run for Senate for North Carolina?
ROY: Well, first Dave, I love my country and I think Washington is broken. And I think we need people with practical experience like I have in private business, as attorney general, the chief law enforcement officer of our state, and as governor, where we were the best state for business in the country three of the last four years, we helped create 620,000 new jobs – I’m excited about the opportunity to go and try and fix things. It costs too much to live right now.
ROY: Affordability is going to be a big issue in this race, and I’ll tell you about what I was able to do as governor, is work in a bipartisan way with – I’m a Democrat – with a Republican legislature and we worked together to do a lot of things and I think people want more civility in politics, they want us to work together, and you know, sports is a great way to bring people together.
