RALEIGH — Last week, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Rocky Mount to discuss how he will work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for working North Carolinians.

  • Roy Cooper wants to “make stuff cost less,” and he says he can do that if elected to the U.S. Senate.
  • The former two-term Democratic governor and Nash County native made a stop Thursday morning in Rocky Mount to tout his plans to help the working class afford necessities such as gas, groceries and health care.
  • Cooper, who has never lost a statewide election, briefly mentioned his opponent Thursday, calling him a Washington insider, who will listen to other Washington insiders.
  • Cooper opened his remarks by listing individuals he’d met recently who need help — young teachers, parents worried about health care for their children, embattled farmers dealing with tariffs and “people like Cynthia who have trouble finding affordable childcare.”
  • Cynthia Peterson helped introduce Cooper to the crowd Thursday, saying that she’s the guardian of her niece, and affordable child care is difficult to find. “Roy is North Carolina through and through,” she said. “He loves this state.”
