Ovies and Giglio: Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper stops by the studio to talk about the big UNC-Duke game, the Carolina Hurricanes and more

- Roy Cooper: “It was a great game. It was a fantastic — and typical of UNC-Duke, just absolutely typical. Most every time, you’re gonna get a memorable game.”
- Roy Cooper: “You know, I have to deal with enough politicians out here in the world who say things that aren’t true. […] I have been a true Carolina Tar Heels fan the whole time.”
- Roy Cooper: “Sports brings people together. Yeah, you have the rivalries and all of that, but you know at the end of the day, people love sports. People who love sports, can love it together, and can think differently politically, they can like different kinds of things – they can even like different teams, but that’s one of the reasons why I continue to love sports and will love sports ‘til my dying day.
Sirius XM NHL Network: Roy Cooper joins the Dave McCarthy Sunday Brunch to talk Hurricanes, Olympics Hockey
- Roy Cooper: “But one thing that this article did confirm is that we may deserve our claim as the loudest house in the NHL, the way the acoustics are in there, the way our fan base is so engaged with this team, it is rocking. And a lot of people who come there who have been in many arenas across the both of our countries have said that this is the loudest place that you can imagine. So we claim that mantle.”
- Roy Cooper: “I love Jordan Staal […] an amazing leader. We got to get one. […] But the finals are just, we’ve just come apart in the finals, so we’ve got to find the formula to get us all the way through. And we’re hoping, obviously, as we do each year, but we’re hoping this is the year.”
99.9 The Fan: Roy Cooper joins the Adam Gold Show to discuss the Hurricanes recent comebacks and the Duke-UNC rivalry
- Roy Cooper: “Message to Carolina Hurricanes fans, never leave the game early. If you think we got it in the bag, we don’t. If you think we can’t come back, we can. And I think that’s the lesson, really, from the last eight to 10 days that we have seen from this team. And I don’t know exactly what it is, this is definitely a ‘in the running for the Stanley Cup’ team.”
