RALEIGH — Yesterday, Roy Cooper kicked off the statewide “Make Stuff Cost Less Tour” in Raleigh. This event was the first in a series of events across the state highlighting how Roy will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolinians.
At the event, Roy unveiled the first plank of his affordability agenda, focused on how he’ll work to lower the cost of food and groceries for North Carolinians:

- Roy Cooper: “I’m running for farmers like Pender, who just talked with you about how these federal government reckless tariffs are driving up their costs and making it harder for farmers to afford what they need to grow the crops to stay afloat, and ultimately hurting the consumer.”
- Anchor: “Cooper is a native of Nash County, and later discussed his experience working on a farm growing up.”

- Reporter: “The slogan is simple and catchy, Make Stuff Cost Less. That’s what former Governor Roy Cooper’s goal is if elected to U.S. Senate.”
- Roy Cooper: “When you’re in a Food Lion, or a Harris Teeter, wherever it might be, it’s clear that grocery prices are just too high. I think North Carolina families have had enough.”
- Roy Cooper: “North Carolina, the people here will be my total focus when I get to Washington.”

- Both Sharp and Walker spoke about their faith in Cooper, over his opponent, former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Whatley, to help their families.

- He outlined four policy goals to help reduce the price of food and groceries: opposing the Trump administration’s tariffs, working to block corporate mergers of grocery chains, banning algorithmic pricing that raises costs for individual customers, and barring food companies from using software to coordinate prices.
- He took aim at his opponent, Republican nominee Michael Whatley, for backing the Trump administration’s economic policies. “Look, I will vote to roll back the tariffs. Michael Whatley won’t,” Cooper said.
