  • “We know for too many North Carolina families there’s too much month at the end of the money,” [Cooper] said, pointing to his plan to lower expenses.
  • Stein recounted working with Cooper when Cooper was the North Carolina attorney general. “I saw up close his integrity, intelligence and servant’s heart as he prosecuted dangerous people, and he took on big corporations that ripped off families, scammed seniors and defrauded Medicaid,” Stein said. “Roy Cooper has protected the people of North Carolina.”
  • Katherine Fitzgerald, a first-year medical student at UNC, said she felt more obligated to vote after attending the free concert. Many of the musicians took a moment during their sets to encourage audience members to go to the polls.
  • Carrboro resident Jerry McNeill brought his 2-year-old daughter to the concert. He said he attended to set a good example of political involvement for his daughter and to feel Cooper’s positivity. “Having candidates be really accessible to the community, to get out and to see the community and to speak to the community is just terrific,” he said.
