RALEIGH – Yesterday, Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour, holding an event in Greenville to highlight how he will continue his work in the U.S. Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families.

  • Cooper, who grew up helping on his family’s farm, said farmers have talked to him about tariffs affecting the cost of farming, which rolls down to the family dinner table.
  • “A lot of leaders who are in place now are just using division to try to make us dislike each other and to keep us at each other’s throats,” Cooper said. “The fact of the matter is that we are much more alike than we are different. And I think that’s something that everybody wants is for stuff to cost less.”

  • Roy Cooper: “I’ve talked with a number of farmers and actually had some roundtables with them. They’re telling me that because of these tariffs, their equipment costs and fertilizer costs are skyrocketing. That’s affecting their operations.”

  • Roy Cooper: “Farmers hurt, and when farmers have to raise their costs to be able to deal with this [tariffs], that is passed down to consumers. And so we know that grocery prices are rising and restaurant costs are greater, and it’s just hurting everyday people.”
