- With just days remaining before the midterm election, former Gov. Roy Cooper brought his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour to Durham, urging supporters to vote while outlining his plans to address affordability concerns if elected to the U.S. Senate.
- “It’s gonna be hard to win this seat,” Cooper told supporters. “We haven’t elected a Democrat since 2008, and we’ve only elected two Democrats in almost 40 years. So when you leave here today, let’s take nothing for granted.”
- Patti Mohr, who described herself as an independent voter, said she had already cast her ballot but felt compelled to become more engaged this election cycle.
- “I normally don’t engage in politics because I’m independent,” Mohr said. “I don’t normally share my opinions, but I think it’s so critical right now.”
