More than 400 women from communities across the state joined the launch to support Roy Cooper
RALEIGH – This week, Cooper for North Carolina launched the “Women for Roy” coalition. More than 400 women from Alleghany County to Dare County joined the launch, with local women leaders discussing how Roy will deliver lower costs for North Carolina families in the United States Senate.
“I’m honored and humbled to have the support of so many amazing women leaders from communities across North Carolina,” said Roy Cooper. “With the cost of groceries, health care and child care skyrocketing, it’s clear that our state is ready for a change from the chaos coming out of Washington DC. I’m ready to go to Washington to be an independent voice, stand up for the women of our state and work with anyone I can to make stuff cost less.”
The chairs of the Women for Roy coalition are community planner Isabella Sardina; former North Carolina Secretary of Commerce & North Carolina Secretary of Administration Machelle Sanders; and retired North Carolina state senator Terry Van Duyn.
Roy Cooper is running for the United States Senate to make life more affordable for North Carolina families. This month, he launched his statewide “Make Stuff Cost Less” campaign, where he is meeting with North Carolinians to discuss his plans to lower the cost of food and groceries, health care, utilities, housing and child care for working families and to highlight how he will fight for them in the U.S. Senate.
Roy has been a champion for women’s rights throughout his entire career. Within the state government, Roy expanded workplace protections for women, established 8 weeks of paid parental leave and banned using salary history in the hiring process to help close the gender pay gap.
